Financial Aid and Scholarships Video

We think the process of applying for financial aid is a lot more confusing and stressful than it needs to be. So we filmed our company president, Kevin McMullin (with professional lighting in the hopes it would make him look young and thin), doing our “Financial Aid and Scholarships” workshop for our Collegewise families. That’s what’s on this video.

In just one hour, you’ll learn:
  • Step-by-step advice, from how to estimate your eligibility, to what forms to fill out, to when to file them. You’ll know exactly what to do and when to do it.
  • Answers to common questions like, “Can applying for financial aid hurt a student’s chances of admission?” and “Should you apply for aid even if you think you won’t qualify?”
  • How to choose colleges that are most likely to give you financial aid, regardless of your aid eligibility
  • Steps you can take to improve your chances of receiving the aid you need
  • The role of outside scholarships (like those from companies and foundations), how to find them, and how to evaluate your potential eligibility
This isn’t a video about how to cheat the system. It’s just smart, easy-to-follow advice to help you make sure you don’t look back on the process of seeking financial aid and wish you’d done things differently. There’s nothing to be ashamed of if you could use some help paying for college, and our video will leave you feeling encouraged and clear about how to take more control of your college costs.
